Summary
Private equity is a form of equity investment into private companies that are not
quoted on a stock exchange. Private equity is distinguished by its active investment
model, in which it seeks to deliver operational improvements in its companies,
over several years.
The private equity industry in CEE was started more than 20 years ago and now
boasts multiple long-term experienced fund managers that have specialised in the
region and whose investors have done well.
This paper tries to capture what is the PE / VC investment, what those firms have
been doing across Europe, CEE and Poland in 2012 and prior year. It also shows
the resilience and the continued potential of private equity in our region.
