THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRONIC BANKING IN POLAND ON THE EXAMPLE OF PKO BANKU POLSKIEGO

Abstract

Purpose - The main objective of this article is to analyze and evaluate the impact of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the functioning of electronic banking in Poland on the example of PKO Bank Polskiego.

Research method - For this purpose, the current situation regarding the functioning of e-banking in Poland was examined, with particular emphasis on the development of electronic banking services at PKO Bank Polski. The study was based on trend models, which were used to forecast the changes that will occur in the e-banking market in Bank PKO Bank Polski at the end of 2022 and in 2023. The analysis was carried out using the STATISTICA 13.3 program

Results - As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all banks - including PKO Bank Polski - will need to increasingly develop their digital infrastructure and innovate to keep pace with changing lifestyles. In the future, the use of cash will be marginalized in favor of electronic payments.

Originality /value / implications /recommendations - The dynamic development of the electronic banking market changes the conditions for providing electronic banking services, which may also affect the efficiency and stability of the banking sector. IT and telecommunication advances will result in more and more new solutions for banking services and thus the electronic money market will develop.
