Samuel Beckett a Irlandia

Artykuł omawia wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące związków Samuela Becketta z Irlandią. Urodzony w tym kraju słynny Noblista, spędził we Francji większość swego życia twierdząc, że woli Francję w okresie wojny od Irlandii w czasie pokoju. Jego niechęć do kraju wyraziła się nie tylko tym, że go opuścił na stałe, ale również w postawie w momencie otrzymania nagrody Nobla, kiedy to kategorycznie sprzeciwił się, aby w związku z nieobecnością na uroczystości, nagrodę odebrał w jego imieniu Ambasador Irlandii, co było zwyczajową regułą. Mimo niechęci Becketta do kraju ojczystego, w jego twórczości dają się zauważyć pewne elementy irlandzkości, z których najważniejsze to upodobanie do narracji, cecha typowa dla dramaturgii irlandzkiej, postaci niektórych kobiet czy też rodzime nazwy geograficzne oraz odniesienia do tradycji kulturowych.
